Okay, so it's not even close to being my birthday, but I decided to name the event in honor of my early birthday present, which is a brand new Garmin.
The event will be held at Lake Shore Park in Ashtabula, Ohio, which is conveniently located between Cleveland, Erie and Youngstown. Hopefully, the location will enable us to have a large group of people who don't normally get to meet each other.
Aside from the wonderful geocachers of the area, the park has a playground for the kids, a frisbee golf course for those of us young at heart, a duck pond, and a peacock cage. And, in the name of useless trivia, only the male Peacocks have the bright coloured tail feathers.
We will have a covered pavillion to our use, and there is a grill, so I'll make hot dogs (unless someone offers up better meat for our enjoyment?). The rest of the meal will be Pot Luck. So bring a dish to share with the rest of us! If anyone would like to step up and volunteer to bring the plates and the beverages, I'd love you forever.
We'll also do a cache n' dash poker run, so anyone not familliar with the area around the park will get a chance to go out and get all of the area caches. Prizes will be awarded for the best hand!
I'm asking everyone for a few dollars per person to help me defray the costs just a little bit. Maybe $3 per person with a maximum of $10 per family...
Sorry, but dogs aren't allowed at Lake Shore Park. We are allowed to swim, but that's on your own free will, and I certainly won't push anyone into the water.
Please post a note and let me know if you're coming. Bring along any travel bugs that you might have hanging around for trade.
And, please, PM me if you need any more information.
