Located in a small public park, this one is best considered an
intro to benchmarking. The Marker is a bronze disc, just like those
used for benchmarking, only this one isn't on any list, or map. It
was created a memorial for a Master Bench marker, before GPS's came
into fashion. Find the marker, and email me
(junk@(removethisantispamspyderjunk)doctorslime.com) the
name inscribed on it, to prove you found the right spot. If you
liked this search, you should check-out the links for Benchmarking,
only beware they are often much harder to find, and sometimes
buried underground, 1-6 inches of soil. This one is flush with the
surface...good luck.
There is a $5 per car entry fee to the park or a $1 per person
walk in fee, Memorial Day through Labor Day. They have been
charging the gate fee for the last 12 years in order to be able to
staff and maintain the park in the summer season.
Parking nearby and walking in will cut costs if you just want to
quickly search for the Virtual Cache, and not take advantage of the
numerous facilities offered by this park. A walk in fee of 1 dollar
person is charged, Memorial day thru labor day, unless you visit
early or later in the day when the gate booth is closed. Saginaw
County has numerous parks, which support geocaching but if you plan
on placing a Geo cache in a County Park
Please Contact : Tonya Thompson Outdoor Recreation and
Events Coordinator Saginaw County Parks and Recreation
Commission
To ask for permission, they are kind enough to support us, we
can be kind enough to return the favor, and inform them of where we
would like to place geocaches, and ask for permission before
placing a cache. Contact me if you need her email address or call
the Saginaw County Parks and Recreation Commission. This Virtual
Cache is Located in a public Park, with nice parking, and a level
parking lot made of loose gravel. This cache is a short distance
away from the parking area, suitable for handicapped, or low stress
level geocaching. You will have to cross some level grass to find
the marker. This cache is second in a series of Low Stress
Geocaches, made for those who find long walks, uneven ground, or
hills a challenge. The First Low Stress Cache is called "The
Monkey's Hideout" It is located several miles away, and can be
found under waypoint search GC12CE.
