Geocache Description:

Microcache is located the end of the McCullough Gulch Trail near Breckenridge Colorado. Cache has been replaced as of September of 2016.

This trail has become much more popular since it was placed in 2004. Some trail improvements now in place.

NOTE: Road to trail is closed for season as of September 6, 2016 for road work. Should open again spring of 2017

The initial elevation at the parking area is 11,100 feet. It is a 1.3 mile hike one way to the cache and the elevation change is 800 feet. (Final elevation is 11,900). This cache should be accessible June to to October.

Directions:
From Breckenridge, drive south on Colorado Nine towards Hoosier pass for around 7 miles until you reach County Road 850 and turn right. Then take another quick right on to County road 851. You will proceed 2 miles. Four wheel drive is not required. At around 1 mile, if you look up you may glimpse the waterfalls that are one of the attractions of this trail.

Parking can get crowded

We had a six year old with us when it was placed and he made it with a smile. Sections are steep and we did gasp for air at times hence the name!

The waterfalls are impressive and a good place for a rest. The final destination is a glacial lake. You will initially trek up an old mining road. At about 0.66 miles from the cache, the trail will change to more narrow path to the left. Keep on going!

Happy Hiking!
