Located on Lackey Point. The area of the cache was burned by the Pinatosa Fire in April 2001, and the area to the west of the cache was recently burned by the Lookout Fire in May 2004. This is a great location for vistas and to witness the rebirth of the forest.
About 8 miles south of Corona on Highway 54, take County Road AO19 (Forest Road 161) west 1.2 miles, turn right on County Road AO22 and go north 2 miles, then take a left on County Road AO23 (Forest Road 99). Take this road about 6.5 miles and park up the hill just off the road on the left at N 34 13.520, W 105 45.530. This is a beautiful spot for a tailgate picnic. Cache is nearby. Original contents – 10 lapel pins, a cavalry hat, and White Bear.
Roads are two wheel drive capable....but suggest SUV.
Note: First one visiting please leave a pen or pencil as I did not have one on me when I dropped off the cache.
