Geocache Description:

The cache is an ammo box located in Clark State Forrest. The cache is located .17 miles from the nearest parking. The last 350 feet is rough terrain.

Congratulations to WCNut & Tater on their 1000th find. As I was thinking about this hide to celebrate the big milestone I decided it would be appropriate to place a cache that would reflect some of Chuck's geocaching experiences. This cache is placed at the location of one of my favorite stories about Chuck's adventures. On Feb 11, 2004 WCNut, Deermark, and Kepnfit decided to find another cache in the area. First, you have to wonder why three guys that are familiar with the rough terrain, knowing that there is ice and snow on the ground, would attempt a cache in this area under these conditions. Next, these three experienced geocachers picked about the worst possible route to the cache. The story as I heard it was that they were having a terrible time staying on their feet. Duh!! It is steep and the ground is covered with ice and snow. Deermark told me that he was hanging onto a tree when Chuck came sliding down the hill right past him. No harm done so they continued on to the cache. Well, they could not retrieve the cache because it was frozen in place. It was harder for them to get back up the hill than it was going down. After they got back to their car, Chuck realized in had lost his wallet. It must have been when he slid down the hill. What a geocaching trek, a no find, a lost wallet, and a few bruises.A few days later a group of us went out in search of the missing wallet. We took ropes along to hang on to this time. We found it! This cache is placed very near to the location where we found the wallet. In honor of Chuck's lost wallet, the theme of the contents of this cache is things we lose.A couple of notes.... As noted above, the terrain can be very slippery in ice and snow. Briars are a problem in the summer. Ropes are not necessary but may be helpful under some conditions.
