In the 19th century Whitley Reed was 309 acres of wetland, but it has subsequently largely been drained for farming. The possibility of restoring some of the original reed beds is currently being investigated by Cheshire Biodiversity. The path where the caches are hidden is home to interesting flowers, grasses and wildlife in its own right. I have spotted many different species of butterfly and there are a pair of buzzards that regularly circle the area.
The cache is in two parts: a laminated card out in the open and a travel bug hotel in a plastic food container.
You can park on the verge of Reed Lane or at the other end of the path on Arley Road.
