I decided to place a cache here after getting entirely to familiar with the area while looking for two of Pear Head's caches, Clearcuts GCJYGM and End of the Road GCJYGK. The same sketchy clues as to where the cache is located, approach and area are the same. Find the right road and you can drive to within 250 feet of the cache which is a full size ammo can.
I liked this spot because it had been clearcut about 2 years ago (approx 2002) and it shows how stubborn mother nature can be. When you find Clearcuts you'll be able to immediately see the difference between the two locations.
One interesting fact is that in the US, loggers leave the branches and other scrap timber behind whereas in Europe EVERYTHING goes to the mill. This material rots and helps fertilize the soil helping the long term survival of the forest.
So when you walk through all that "ankle breaker" deadfall remember, its for the good of the forest!
Update July 2, 2021
Clearcuts has gone the way of the buffalo but End of the Road is still waiting to be found. The ankle breaker branches and other logger leavings have been reclaimed by Mother Nature and put to good use as fertilizer for all the trees and brush.
