Located just west of the Cerro Alto summit in the Los Padres National Forest
Placed this cache back in January but somehow never reported it to the website. I checked it out on August 8 and found it to be in excellent condition still. This cache was created by a group of gals that call themselves the "Hikerbees," (Anna, Patty, Leah and Sandy) who take weekly hikes together. To visit the cache you will need to hike one of the trails to the summit of Cerro Alto, one of the tallest mountains in San Luis Obispo County. The hike is a steady uphill grade for 2+ miles. Suggest you bring good hiking boots as the loose dirt on the trail can give you a good ride when you descend back to the trailhead. The trailhead can be found at the end of the road to the Cerro Alto Campgrounds. There is still a $5 Parking Fee but if you have an "Adventure Pass," a National Parks Pass with a Golden Eagle Hologram or one of the Golden Eagle, Golden Age or Golden Access Passes, it can be used in lieu of the $5 fee. The cache consists of a calculator, binoculars, keychains, croakies and carabiner. The 360 degree view of SLO County that you will have at the summit is the best around.
