Laxholmen, fiskeläger från 1300-talet

Laxfisket i Lule älv har gamla anor. Man finner det omnämnt i medeltida handlingar redan på 1300-talet, men mycket tyder på att fiske bedrivits här långt tidigare. Möjligheterna till laxfiske försvann  i och med tillkomsten av Laxede kraftstation 1960.

Vid Laxholmen så finns det toaletter samt en vackert belägen grillplats. I år (2004) har det även drivits ett sommarcafe på platsen under juli och början av augusti. Detta ska eventuellt även drivas nästa år

Salmon fishing in the Lule River has a long history, It was mentioned in medieval documents as early as in the 14th century, but there are many indications that fishing was carried on here much earlier. During the centuries there have been many different owners of the fishing rights in Edefors. In 1621 a part of the fishing rights was donated to the City oh Luleå. From 1886 the City became the sole owner of all the fishing rights, having purchased the remainder of them. The possibility of fishing salmon at Edefors disappered in 1960 , with the construction of Laxede Power Station.
