The SQ in the cache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project by the Northwest Ohio Geocachers to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries or memorial gardens. This cache is part of that series created by nwogeo members to highlight cemeteries in the area. Please be respectful of the area, and observe the posted hours which are sunrise to sunset. As I was scouting the area to hide a new cache, I happened upon the squirrel in the photo. The poor guy must have got his back legs and hips squished at some time.
I debated on A: euthanasia , B: take him to Natures Nursery (but what do you do with a squirmming squirrel, put him in the glove box?), or C. leave him be. I looked into his big brown eyes, and saw that he was happy!. He got around by dragging his rear end, but by golly, he seemed like a happy squirrel. I could have easily caught him, but thought 'he seems to be doing fine. Why not let him live his life in the wild and be free?' So, I left him alone, and fed him part of a granola bar and left the rest of it where he could get it. I have stopped back since then, but couldn't find him. All my previous granola treats were gone, but I have no idea if he got them. I left two more bars for him. If you hunt this cache, please be on the look out for him, and maybe bring along some peanuts.
