Journey past the Sherwood Forest Fire Road and follow the steps of Maid Marian.
Although Marian was a frequent visitor to the forest, she did not live with the Merry Men and had to leave the woods to return home. Still, she liked to look out over the surrounding countryside and wondered what life would be like if the rich gave to the poor on their own accord. She thought that Robin could then stop trying to be the hero and the two could travel to a far away land where they might live in new Sherwood Forest without those Merry Men always hanging around. She could then stop being a maid.
No one knows if Marian ever fulfilled this hope, but it is said that her vision helped inspire Lord Fairfax to move to this area.
You can start out by parking near 38° 00.512 N, 122° 37.065 W. Take the trail directly up the hill through the small redwood stand -- then follow the fire road to the cache. Or you can begin by the Bay Ridge trail near the Brown Bridge. Using both routes make for a nice loop, but I recommend starting from the first trailhead so you do not miss the path down the hill on your return.
