This park is another of those unassuming suburban parks that we pass by every day without a second thought. However, this park has a lot to offer: BBQs, picnic tables, trees, garden beds, toilets, and an off-leash area for dogs. In addition to all this, it abuts the miniature railway of The Steam Locomotive Society of Victoria.
The railway is open to the public between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month, except January. Rides cost $1.50 per person. You can visit their web site here. For a greater challenge, search for the cache on the first Sunday of the month, and then use the kids as an excuse to go in for a ride behind a real (if diminutive) steam locomotive.
The park across the road is home to the Moorabbin Little Athletics Centre, which meets on Saturday mornings between September and March. You might also consider this fact when timing your assault.
