A significant hike from the top of the Needles Express Gondola at the Snowbasin Ski Resort. On a small ridge between Mt. Ogden Peak and De Moisy Peak, with a fine view of South Ogden, Riverdale and Hill Air Force Base.
The trail is just off the Cirque Practice Loop #14 trail, but up a steep set of switchbacks. The trail is not well hidden, but can be missed if you are not looking for it (just after flag #6, right-hand side before you make a big turn). The hike is nice and steady, but can get a bit dicey towards the top. It's about 25-30 minutes from where you get off the Gondola, but the view is well worth it. The elevation of the cache is 9,074 feet!
At the end of the trail on the top of the ridge, head Southeast towards and outcropping of rock and trees. You need to do a bit of light climbing both down and up, but it's nothing to tough.
The cache is our first! We decided to take a hike at the top of the Gondola and thought it would be the perfect spot for a cache.The cache is an ammo can with various little trinkets. Here is what was left to begin the cache...

There is also a logbook and a small set of Binoculars. Be sure to sign the logbook (tell us your story!) and certainly use the binoculars to check out the view...but please put them back! We trust you, we know you'll keep them in the cache ;)!
It was my wife and our 16-month old daughter and I who placed this cache. I'm certain we'll return often, especially as the little girl gets bigger. It's just too bad she was getting her molars (teething) and just didn't have the best time.
It was a great hike...it certainly is worth the price of the Gondola ride and the sweat.
