Plumbob Lookout Cache Traditional Cache

Well the ALCSplorers have been by the road up to Plumbob lookout at least a thousand times but have never ventured up it. It never looked like that great of a road. But in 2003 they had to get up to fight the fires on Plumbob Mountain using this road so the road is in great shape. The tower that was on top burnt in the fires of 2003. They have put up a new lookout tower. There is a good view of Koocanusa from the top.

Well now for the how to get there. Travel down Plumbob road until you reach coordinates 49 13.144N by 115 25.873W. There will be a road going up to your left (if you are coming from Cranbrook). There is another road just a little past this road that joins into this road. The road is in good shape. You should not need a four wheel drive. Like any of these lookout roads you will want to have good brakes for the way down or put it in low gear to save on the brakes. Travel up this road until you reach the top and let your GPS guide you from there. There are a couple of other roads that branch off the main road but they are both ditched. We would never take you up a ditched road.
