Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the American Chestnut Land Trust property and cache is hidden on the Yellow - Horse Swamp Trail from the Double Oak Farm trailhead. Moderate hike with an incline. Be sure to carry your bottled water.

This cache is in honor of Calvert County's native son, Louis L. Goldstein, who served as Comptroller of the Treasury from 1959 to 1998 and was elected state delegate in 1939. Louis Goldstein has held a statewide elected office longer than anyone in Maryland's history. He was born in Prince Frederick, Maryland, on March 14, 1913, and was married for forty-eight years to Hazel E. Horton. They had three children and resided at Oakland Hall, Prince Frederick, Maryland. He also operated several farms, and was an avid outdoorsman who believed in land, historical, and cultural preservation. He loved Calvert County, the Chesapeake Bay and all of its natural environment. He also loved people and would great you, with his now famous phrase, "God Bless Yall' Real Good". This cache is park approved and located on land held by the American Chestnut Land Trust within the Parkers Creek watershed. The ACLT manages more than 2,500 acres and is open to the public 365 days a year, free of charge, for environmental education, scientific research, and recreational hiking, birding, hunting, camping and canoeing. The ACLT encourages public use of its open space through many well-maintained trails. **This property is used for hunting during deer firearm and turkey season. Parking for this cache is at the Double Oak Farm: Go 2 miles east on Dares Beach Road from the light on Route 2/4 in Prince Frederick. Turn right onto Double Oak Road and drive 1 mile. Turn left onto the lane across from open field, past house to designated parking. Trail maps and a sign in sheet is available at the parking lot.
