Geocache Description:

This is the first regular-sized cache in Seward, Alaska. It is hidden at the beginning of the Race Trail that leads to the top of Mount Marathon.

Go to the top end of Jefferson Street, which ends in a small parking lot. Go past the gates to the trailhead of the Race Trail. You will see it on your right as pretty vertical cliffs with loose sediment and rocks going down to the ground. The trail will take you to the top of Mt. Marathon and, if you take the Jeep trail on the way down, past the Scheffer Creek Waterfalls.

The cache is hidden at the beginning of a bypass trail that takes you around those cliffs. The bypass trail is on the right side, half way up to the begining of the almost-vertical cliffs.

Although the cache is very close to the trailhead and the parking lot, it is going to be pretty difficult and somewhat dangerous to look for it because of steep slopes and loose sediment. Excercise extreme caution and watch out for loose rocks. The error on the above coordinates was pretty large - about 85 feet.
