Terrace Pond Adventure Book Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: From the Northern Region Office, New Jersey State Parks Department:

Over a year ago New Jersey enacted a policy that all geocachers must obtain a permit to have their cache on State Park property. We have informed all geocaching host that this is their responsibility and have given them ample time to go about getting their permits. At this time, over a year later, there are still several caches that haven’t complied.

We ask that as the land managers for the attached properties we would like to have these illegal caches removed.

Based on the list provided by the state, I am forced to archive this listing. If you have a permit, get a permit or don't believe your cache is on state park/forest land, please contact me via email. Make sure you include the GC code.

If you don't plan to get a permit, please remove your geocache so it doesn't become geo-trash.

Geocache Description:

Cache is just south of terrace pond on the summit ridge of Bearfort mtn.

The hike out to and back from this cache is a 3 hour loop that will require using your hands to scramble up and your butt to slip down occasionally. The varied scenery, views, secluded pond, and other little surprises are well worth the effort. We love this hike and come here often, and since we found it using a book we decided to make this an "Adventure Book" cache. It is full of books on canoeing, hiking, rock climbing, snowboarding, hang gliding... We hope that you will bring along a book to share, but anything is welcome in this cache. Park at N41.08.580, W074.24.436, a small lot on the west side of clinton rd. Enter the trail directly across the street and fork right almost immediately and follow the yellow blazed trail. After about a mile or so, bear right onto the yellow dot trail (white blazes with yellow dots), follow it up to the ridge and turn right onto the white blazed trail. The cache is located in this area. Continue along the ridge then to Terrace pond. Follow the blue trail down to complete the loop(it will end at the fork where you entered the trail across the street from the car).
