The Olive Grove
is a piece of Elizabeth history that dates back to the 1920’s and was once a part of the Old Judd Farm.

Eileen McEvoy (nee Judd) in the book “ Elizabeth From Dusty Plains to Royal Names” compiled by Linda Allery states –
“ We had cows and bullocks, horses, sheep…. Hundreds and hundreds of sheep, because they had them where the olives are now… So the area – it’s still called the Olive Grove, olives used to be picked by Star Groceries. They used to come and pick them for Hindley Street…”
The Olive Grove is now a reserve and over the years the olives have been pick by people who apply to the council for a licence to harvested them. At one time there was a suggestion that this area was going to be turned into a Par 3 golf course but that never occurred. The latest suggestion is to turn it into a wetland area. So this may be your chance to see a piece of Elizabeth history before the bulldozers move in. These trees predate the Township of Elizabeth, which was opened on November 16 1955.
The search for this cache twists through the reserve for approximately one kilometre. All hide sites are surrounded by wood so there is no need to look in grass or check under rocks. But with a forest of trees there are plenty of hiding spots.
The cache has a definite cocktail theme and although there is nothing alcoholic in the cache there are item such as
v Coasters
v Bottle openers
v Umbrellas and plastic animals to decorate glasses
v Cocktail sticks with Aussie flags
