Geocache Description:

This is an historic site on the Great River Road in Grafton Illinois. The terrain is easy with only a small hill to the cache site.

This property originally belonged to H.H. Ferguson who owned a dairy farm on the West edge of Grafton. It was he who constructed the cross on his property to commemorate Father Marquette and Jolliet landing in Illinois at this location.The Ferguson property was 800 acres and includes part of Pere Marquette State Park and Illinois Department of Corrections Youth Center to the right of the cross.
The coordinates are now to the cache site. Please do not park next to the Correction center. There is a small parking area on the other side of the cross.
