Trusty Companion of woodcutter loves to go benchmark hunting for benchmarks that have not been logged. We liked this site so well that we wanted to share it so we left a geocache up on the hill to entice you here. I could see Picacho Peak! Small things thrill me.
From Old Spanish Trail take Pistol Hill Road west. In a very short distance, leave the highway at N32° 04.068' W110° 39.352' and look for old dirt road or park and walk (walkers will have a .5 mile walk each way). Drive down dirt road, which is passable by high clearance passenger cars, to base of hill. Park and walk to top of hill. Do be careful of the rock surface. I found it to be slippery especially on the way down. This is a Survey Triangulation Station. We've included the link to the benchmark site so you can print it, take it with you, and later log it. Benchmark CZ1820 a.k.a. ISOLATED monumented in 1936.
We would love it if some people would take pictures of the actual station (a stone pillar) and views and post them. My camera stinks.
Don't leave the hill without finding the triangulation station, the 2 reference marks (brass discs in rocks), and the geocache!
