Trading Post Cache Traditional Cache

This is a small trading post cache located on private property near the major metropolis of Trading Post and Boicourt, Kansas.
In honor of the first trading post in Kansas I am setting up this trading post (cache).
NO CACHING DURING HUNTING SEASON, OCT. 1 to DEC 31!!!!
I will be removing the cache during those times!!!!
The original container when missing and replaced it on 2-12-06 with a rubber made container. I also move it slightly.
Parts of the area can be very marshy at times. Waterproof boots are a good idea.
PLEASE, DO NOT PARK near the gate to the Boicourt Hunting Club and stay off their gravel driveway. You can park anywhere along the county road north of the cache. If you would like to get off the road you can pull in here, N 38/16.025 W094/43.740.
A little early history of Trading Post: Trading Post, Kansas is located on the banks of the Marais des Cygnes, is the oldest continually occupied settlement in the State. The land where it stands was purchased by a Frenchman named Chouteau, who in 1834 established the trading post as agents of the Northwestern Fur Company. The value of the furs collected at this and other posts in this region amounted annually for a number of years to $300,000. The Indians received payment in tobacco, trinkets and whiskey. It was soon called the Chouteau Trading Post.
The Marais Des Cygnes Massacre also happened in the area with residents of Trading Post being killed by Missouri Bushwackers. This happened at the time of Bleeding Kansas, more information can be found at: (visit link)
The Marais Des Cygnes Wildlife area is right there as is a small museum in Trading Post. I encourage you to spend some time and explore the area.
