Not far from the hustle and bustle of one of the busiest airports in the world is the DFW International Airport Travel Bug Hotel (or DFWIATBH for short).
Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport opened to traffic for the first time on January 13, 1974. The airport is jointly owned by the cities of Dallas and Ft. Worth and is operated by the DFW Airport Board. At the end of 2003, a total of 53,253,607 passengers (source - Airports Council International) had passed through DFW International Airport, making it the 4th busiest airport in North America.
DFWIATBH is also located in an area which is just about “Retail Heaven”. There is the Bass Pro Shop/Outdoor World across the street and Grapevine Mills Outlet Mall just down the road. Also (as if you didn’t need another reason to come visit our cache) is the Gaylord Texan, “The grandest hotel in the great Southwest” (their words, not ours). It is very big, however.
Now while you’re in the DFW area, we hope you take the time to relax, do some geocaching to unwind from your travels, and visit DFWIATBH. Parking is very close by. If you’re so inclined, you could hop the curb if your vehicle is capable and drive down a nice little dirt road straight to the cache – a veritable park ‘n grab.
November 1, 2005: the cache has been relocated slightly from its previous location. Good luck!
Congrats to MMACH5 for a scary ftf!
