Geocache Description:

Nemo Finds Salem Lake

Our scaled friend Nemo has come all of the way from Sidney to the Americas to visit the lakes and rivers of our continent. He found his way to Salem Lake and he and his friends have settled into a geocache hideaway in the forest along the shoreline.

This cache is an ammo box that is hidden in a very traditional manner about 100 feet off a side trail on the north side of the lake - some bushwhacking required. You’ll need to hike about 1.5 miles round trip from the nearest parking area. There's plenty of tree cover near the cache location, too, that interferes with GPSr reception - we did our best with the coordinates!

The service road around Salem Lake has become a very popular trail for hiking, bicycling and horse back riding. The main parking area and office have schedules for operation, but there are other parking areas and access points to the trail that can be used anytime.
