It's a good idea to park at the rugby club , Wyevales garden centre, or the garage nearby. You must go during the opening hours of The Abbey gardens in Bury st. Edmunds for the clues in the Abbey Gardens, but the 'structure' before the actual cache can be reached at any time.
I got the idea for this cache after i'd been accidentally shot at an archery competition - I suffered a broken fibula but King Edmund was shot on purpose and came off a lot worse at the hands of the Danes. - what are you waiting for - GO NOW !! The first co-ordinates, N52 14.621 E000 43.045, are for the first stage.. --
STAGE 1. The man himself ! - This object was unveiled in 19?6.
STAGE 2.Go to a structure behind railings at N52 14.5?5 E000 43.047 (put in digit from date at first stage)- at what age was poor Mary struck by lightning ?
STAGE 3.Take away three and go to N52 14.?80 E000 43.087 and sit down 10ft from the end of the bench - when crazybgolf is running here is the number missing from the next co ordinates, when it isn't crazy golf season the number is filled in for you.
STAGE 4.Go to N 52 14.650 E000 43.149 Look on the ground for a grave - (this one may be about 30ft off , but you can't miss it)
STAGE 5.Here's the tough one .... How long was Sampson 'in office' - take away 25 and go (via N52 14.692 E000 43.221) to N52 14.495 E 000 43.?98
As you pass what was once St. James Middle School on your left, you'll see on the 'town side' of the river, the 'crankles' - not the hilarious scottish comedy duo but the site, between the rivers Lark(nearest) and Linnet , of the Abbey's fish farming ponds , and the south facing slope on your left was the site of the Abbey's Vineyards , (the area behind the school is still called the 'vinefields') - those Monks had it hard didn't they ! Have a rest at this structure and look for the missing numbers.... The final co-ordinates are N52 14.259 , E000 43.???
P.S. No English Kings were harmed during the setting up of this cache - it was safely organised with spotters with walky talkies when no one was around.
P.P.S. Brush up on your Roman Numerals or take a crib sheet with you.
