Geocache Description:

The cache runs 1200 feet up from where you begin and you can take 2.5 mile switch back hike or bike up to the cache or a shorter but much rougher 'road' to a 3/4 of a mile hike to the cache.

This is part one of a two part series of caches for those who like to mountain bike. If you like to bike it the hike to the top (or if you are in good shape bike to the top) I would suggest starting at the first set of parking at 40° 21.553N 79° 03.209W then starting out toward Baldwin Furnace and taking a right between the buildings and follow the orange diamond blaze trail. Once you find the cache follow the trail to 40° 20.340N 79° 01.350W, where those who can't handle the walk or don't bike can start. *grin* Then head over to the E.V.A.C. Cache parking for the top and down the trail you shall go. You will return to a paved road and back to your car for a trip of nearly 9 miles.

Adjusted location about 10 feet from old location, about 5 feet inside the tree line.
If you wish to take the short way (Only 3/4 of a mile) or don't have a mountain bike take the gas line back (make sure you don't block the gate at the parking spot) from SR 271 between Ligonier and Johnstown right near the trailhead for the Laurel Ridge Trail.

The rankings are for the shorter hike. If you would come from the bottom I would tack on at least another star for the terrain due to the climb that will come (nearly double your starting altitude.) You are looking for a .50 cal Ammo can. If you do take the shorter hike you are going to miss out of some very cool views, so it is up to you.

Finally this is all State game land where you are caching so please be careful as I saw several deer while placing this cache, and where the deer are, so are the hunters. Therefore you should make sure you wear your blaze orange during hunting season.
