Geocache Description:

From Kanab travel east on hwy 89 for 9.3 miles (MP 55). Turn left (north) on Johnson Canyon Rd. for 11.6 miles. Turn Right on dirt road. I’ve rated the terrain 4, because I recommend a four wheel drive, the road is sandy and soft and you must cross Johnson wash. (not recommended during wet weather).

After about 2 miles you may be able to see Montezuma’s cross ( a natural cross) on your left, high on the white cliffs. When you reach a fork in the road the left fork will take you to Montezuma’s Cave. The right for will take you to the cache. About a half a mile further you will reach another fork in the road, stay to the right. When you see a black barrel by a big tree, park here. Park at N 37º 12.519’ W -112º 20.031’. The container is an Ammo can and it contains a Watch/compass/carabineer, Small deck of cards, Hotdog splash toy, Yellow golf ball, Insulated bottle holder, Alf clip toy, Body glitter, Small picture frame, Bottle of bubbles, Sacagawea dollar, www.wheresgeorge.com dollar #682174149H.While you’re here, you may want to visit Montezuma’s cave at N 37º 12.850’ W -112º 20.831’ you will see several caves, four sets of carved steps in the sandstone, a large natural cross high above the caves and a carved face in the sandstone near the main cave. Beware of ancient curses and death traps, people have been lost in these caves for days.Elevation 6000ft.
