THIS CACHE IS OVER 20 YEARS OLD !
This cache is located above a 26 metre high waterfall.
Ammonites were squid-like sea creatures and have been extinct for 65 million years. They had coiled nautilus-like shells, sometimes reaching 3 metres in diameter. The shale wall behind the falls and the canyon below holds an abundance of ammonite and other fossils.
There are other routes but a good place to start is at the end of Jamieson Road. Parking is not allowed there so you must park at the gravel lot just down the hill on Creekside Place. Head out on the gravel road past the yellow gate. The trail to the falls starts at 49°11.049 x 124°04.845 where you will see a sign on a tree pointing the way, photo below. The cache coordinates will take you to to a small clearing over the waterfall.
There is now a fence near the cache but there are still STEEP UNGUARDED DROPOFFS on each end of it!!
The cache is in a small camoed lock and lock and is tucked into a hole at the base of a tall rotten stump, photo below. Please cover well when re-hiding. If you wish to descend into the canyon there are ropes to assist you down the bank just north of the cache.
