Geocache Description:

Very near this cache is a landmark that was very important to the Wyandott Indians. This area was the last home in Ohio of the Wyandott Indians, who were ordered to leave the area in 1840. By 1843, the last group of 664 left. There are many legends regarding the Wyandotts and this area. One of them is that the Wyandotts settled here because they had no fear of a tornado ever hitting this area. Another is that they buried all the gold they were given before they left the area and it is still buried here. Some say north of this town near the Tymochtee Creek. The historical location is open to the public Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 1-4pm in June, July and August. Take the time to visit. There is also a historical marker and information sign nearby. The first missionary to the Wyandotts, John Stewart, is also close, although he passed away in 1823. A great place for the history buff! Easy micro! BYOP!!!
