Geocache Description:

These caches are located along the Harlem Valley Rail Trail

I am an "Old Guy" and like Old Guy music. I was playing Peter Frampton's live recording of "Do You Feel Like We Do" (13:46 minutes) in the car on a family roadtrip and I had an uprising in the car- the kids went berserk. "What's the problem?".... response from my very wise daughter, "A song needs: 1) a beginning; 2) a middle; and, 3) an end...... and there needs to be a purpose..."

OK... here's a cache that meets all three criteria.

Purpose: share the Harlem Valley Rail Tail, a treasure, with others. We've been biking the Harlem Valley Rail Trail ("HVRT") for several years since moving to the area. It's perfect. Long, level and paved- a good ride for all levels of bikers. The countryside is beautiful- very bucolic. The trail is also a favorite for rollerbladers and walkers. My favorite seasons to visit are spring, summer and fall foliage!

This cache was designed for those on wheels who can cover the full length from Amenia to Millerton, about 7 miles, and back (14 total). Also, this trail would be good for cross country skiing but I haven't done this on the trail. This is a multicache. The coordinates for the primary (target) cache are in the first cache.

I like Geocaching because it takes me to very cool places but I am not nuts about having to kill myself finding the cache once I get there. Once you get to the spot, these caches, hopefully, will be relatively easy for you to find but not the "muggles".

BE VERY,VERY CAREFUL AS THERE IS OLD BARBED WIRE NEAR BOTH STONEWALLS. DO NOT LET THE LITTLE ONES RUN UP TO THE STONE WALLS!

Beginning: Trailhead in Amenia. See the link for details- "www.hvrt.org" see my link at the top of the page.
(visit link)

Middle: The first cache is on the west side of the trail. There is a very slight clearing in the trailside brush and you will see a stone wall. There are two trees, look around the right tree.

End: The primary cache is on the east side of the trail. Look for a break in the stonewall. Go through the break and look to the north on the east side of the stonewall. The cache was started with some fun stuff! including "Two Clarinets on the Porch" and a bag lock.

David Letterman's Bonus Pea Game! Guess the number of peas in the small container and when you post your log provide your guess! I will respond with the actual number. (Please do not remove the PEA GAME!!!!!!) Have fun!
