Geocache Description:

At the Historic Parkton Train Depot

FIRST!!! Use extreme caution for the active train tracks adjacent to this Depot! There is a fence and a crossing gate between the depot and the tracks, so be sure to park on Cooper Street, on the EAST side of the tracks and the Depot. DO NOT GO AROUND THE FENCE! The cache is on the East side of the fence!

This is a Train Depot, built around 1900, and is very close to being included in the National Register of Historic Places. It is now owned by the Town of Parkton, and is mostly used for storage now, but in the very near future, will be used as a museum/activity center. The restoration group has acquired a locomotive and will soon have it parked here, as well, when it is not in use for railroad tours to Red Springs, NC.

This micro replaces GCHMJJ, "Parkton Depot", which was "Mugglized" repeatedly. We really wanted a full-sized cache near our home that we could put TB's in, but this is too nice a town not to have a cache. Perhaps we'll find a spot for an ammo box soon.

Bring a pen or pencil to sign the log!

The First Finder's Prize is a WheresGeorge 5-dollar bill.

First Finder's honors go to: Bryan, "oldfriends," of Pinehurst, NC
