Geocache Description:

The location of this cache will offer you an unobstructed view of little known, but beautiful Lake Bard.

Lake Bard is a reservoir holding 10,500 acre feet of water and is owned and maintained by the Calleguas Municipal Water District (CMWD). CMWD is the water “reseller” that operates the reservoir and accompanying water treatment plant during the peak water demand in the summer. Water delivered from the Sierra Nevada is stored in Lake Bard until needed. The water treated here is transported to cities from Oxnard to Simi Valley where it is actually treated again before it is delivered to homes and businesses. The trailhead is located at a small parking lot (N34°13.953” W118° 50.328”) on Erbs road. The cache is approximately .5 miles (not .5 KM as stated on a sign at the trailhead) from the trailhead. There is a good trail all the way to the cache; no bushwhacking is necessary. The cache contains various goodies from a recent trip to Hawaii. The cache container is a camo’ed 3” X 4” X 6” plastic food container. You may also want to grab the “Trail to Nowhere (GCF0F3)” Geocache located nearby.
