Geocache Description:

A popular place for biking and hiking in Thurston County - and one of our favorite places to come to again and again.

Today we heard and then saw a large Pileated Woodpecker noisily drumming out his dinner as we headed towards our cache location. Although this is the largest woodpecker in America, it's a rather shy bird so we were thrilled to spot this red-headed cousin to Woody! Watch for other wildlife along the trail. We've been caching for exactly one year now, and this is our first cache. You will find it in a regular ammo can. From the coordinates above, walk one "chain" at 320 degrees magnetic with no declination and you will find your reward. We've placed three travel bugs in the cache - one of them is a Yellow Jeep 4X4. There is also a flashlight with batteries, a phone card, and several items for big & little kids!Cheers!!
