Termite Palace Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

thequeenbee: It's not likely any improvement will happen here for at least another year so I'll archive this cache rather than keep it hanging. If miraculously things get better later on, it may be back. This was my favorite of all the caches I've owned. Thanks everyone who's ever visited the Termite Palace. Aloha, TQB

Geocache Description:

Parking is available at N 21° 17.550, W 157°49.670 or on the street (but watch for restrictions).

The cache is not at the posted coordinates. You will need to do a little math and have a compass to find it!

What you see here is a reminder of a very special part of Honolulu’s history. In front of you lies a mere two acres of land. Can you imagine 26,000 people here all at the same time? They deafened the neighborhood with their cheers and screams for decades. What’s your favorite sport? Football? Baseball? Stock car racing? Polo? Or do you prefer a rock and roll concert? All of Honolulu found it back then at this place.

Today, mothers push baby strollers on the paved paths and kids scramble over the gentle hills. Many folks bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the shade.

From the coordinates above, go 435 feet at “X” degrees magnetic. “X” will be equal to the number of years between the closing of “The Palace” and the installation of the monument multiplied by 15.5

You will find a logbook here. Please do not add any trade items to the cache. Bring a pen or pencil to sign your name and date to the log. Please replace everything exactly as found. There is no need to climb on top of, or dismantle anything. The cache is not buried or covered. It will be in plain sight if you are looking in the right place!

Can you see the ghosts of Babe Ruth, Jesse Owens, Joe DiMaggio and Elvis? They all have been here before, how about you? If you happen to have any personal memories of Honolulu’s “Termite Palace” please share them with us here.
