Stage One N42 55.505 W088 51.275
This first stage will take you to a place where you will see a little piece of pre-settler Native American history. Read all three signs to answer the questions below. The signs are near the road, so please do not walk upon the intaglio itself. The numeric answers will help you to generate the latitude needed to find the cache. NOTE: while parking is legal right in front of the site, the traffic can get heavy on this road. Be forewarned.
A = Fill in the blank. The intaglio was marked as a local landmark in 19_8.
B = Fill in the blank. This panther-type effigy had a length of 12_ feet.
C = Of the ten other recorded intaglios (all now destroyed), how many represented bears?
Stage Two N42 55.537 W088 51.461
The second stage will take you to a sign in front of "The Old Fort". You can park right in front of this one too. Read the sign and answer the following questions to generate the cache's longitude. The fort is open to the public - feel free to explore it. NOTE: this park is closed from midnight to 6 am. One weekend a year (usually around Memorial Day), this park holds the Buckskinners Rendezvous, and access requires an admission charge.
X = Fill in the blank. The construction of this replica was begun in 196_.
Y = In 1832, General Atkinson had how many thousand troops in his army?
Z = How many letters are in the name of this fort (excluding the word "Fort")?
Stage Three
This stage will take you on a bit of a hike through a wooded area. Coordinates for parking closest to the trailhead can be found below. This part of the park is gated, so don't be there after dark or you might get locked in. If you find the gate closed when you get there (usually in winter), you can park at the Aquatic Center and walk in. Use this formula to generate the coordinates of the cache:
N42 55.A(B+3)(C+5) W088 51.XY(Z-2)
