Geocache Description:

To the north of the Howe of Alford is the start (or end, depending on which way you look at it!) of the Gordon Way walk. The walk stretches from the Suie Hill to Bennachie in the east, and takes in lovely walking amongst fantastic views of Aberdeenshire.

Start at the Suie Hill car park at N57 17.832' W002 45.204' and look for the marker post which indicates the start of the Gordon Way walk. The car park here is free, and is actually a great place for views in its own right! The walk follows a very good, easy, forestry trail through the Forest Enterprise wood up across open heather moor. Although there are signs up warning of Forestry activity, the cache is well away from any operations, and is in fact only a short distance from the path. Despite this, you should be hidden well enough from prying eyes when searching for the cache. There should be no problems with satellite signal here. The cache is actually a fairly small 'regular' cache, so only small swaps please! Contains the usual goodies plus a small First to Find bonus. Allow approimately 45 minutes to return to the car park, as the cache is hidden along the very first stretch of the Way, allowing you to do as much, or as little of the Way as you like. For the very keen, it could be combined with a trip to the Bennachie Booty cache, only c. 14 miles away! Please note, there are no litter or dog poo bins in the area so please come prepared to take any 'deposits' home with you! Many thanks to Forest Enterprise for granting permission to place this cache. This is my first placed cache, so apologies in advance for any mistakes!!(Also, if you enjoy this taster of the Way, the Alford and District Rotary Club organise the annual Gordon Way Walk (usually) on the last Sunday of May each year. The objective is to provide an event that allows individuals or groups to raise money for their own preferred cause.)
