Geocache Description:

By land or by lake, this cache can be difficult or easy, depending on which direction you attempt to find it...

This cache is located on the shores of Lake Bomoseen in an area known as Cedar Mountain, the home of an old slate quarry. This quarry hasn't been active since the early 1900's, and now sits as a reminder of industry in Vermont in a time before we knew it.You can approach this cache bottom up or top down, it's up to you. The direction of your approach will determine the difficulty and terrain of this cache. Either way you go, there will be a challenge or two-You will have to negotiate the slate slide (or at least a portion of it). We chose to place this by boat, but it can be accessed by land as well. If you are attempting this cache in the winter, you may have to ice-skate to it, but the actual cache should be protected from the snow. We enjoyed placing this cache for you, and hope that you enjoy the lake while you're in the area.
