Children's Forest Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

brodiebunch: This cache has been around since 2004 and back then there were not many larger sized geocaches located away from the lake. It would be nice to think our caches in SE Seattle would bring people who bypass the area to visit the area and maybe add their own caches.

This cache has been muggled two or three times including some time between today and the last find. Its time for the sun to set on the Children's Forest cache and let someone else have their turn at cache management here.

There are still a number of other Brodiebunch caches throughout the city. Go find those. [:)]

Geocache Description:

Another reason to visit SE Seattle...........

In another attempt to place caches in SE Seattle, I came across The Children's Forest. Its a 2.6 acre wooded area due west of Dearborn Park and east of the giant power lines. The area was once settled by early pioneers but is now used for environmental education for the nearby schools. The local school kids are helping to restore the area to a more natural setting. Except for being in the flight path of Sea-Tac, the forest is rather peaceful. The flora and fauna is rather varied also

There are two ways to enter the forest: from the south through the Dearborn Elementary School parking lot or from the north off an east-west trail where S Brandon St. should be. It may safer/less conspicuous for cacher to enter from the north-at least during the weekdays when schools in session.

Because of the tree canopy and the slight ravine, I could only get 4-5 satellites max. Please post any coordinate variations in your logs.

Container is a 1 liter sized L&L covered in camo tape

06/16/06: Area has definitely grown up since cache was placed, The Brandon Street trail is still there, but is alot narrower. The dense canopy may hinder GPS readings so I adjusted the difficulty rating on this one. Good luck!

03/18/2010: Cache moved off the trails towards the east. Please re-hide as you found it unless you found totally exposed. Then re-hide better than you found it. Thanks!
