Memorial Hall

Looking East

Memorial Hall was constructed in 1922 as a memorial to veterans of all wars. That was pretty early as a war memorial. Most came after World War II. The Memorial Hall used to be the civic center, if a big concert came to town, it was Memorial Hall. Now it is too small for much and has been replaced by the Bi-Centennial Center. We placed the cache here on September 11th, 2004. We all will remember 9-11.

The cache is hidden on the M-60 Army Tank on the south lawn of Memorial Hall, the tank has signs posted not to climb on it, that must be a liabilty issue as there are kids on the tank almost everyday. We placed the cache so you will not have to climb on the tank to get it.

The M-60 replaced the M-48 tank. It was well armored and powered by a 750 cubic inch diesel engine. These things left a trail of exhaust smoke that was unreal!

The tank weighs 54 tons and has a top speed of 35 mph. All hatches, boxes, doors, and access panels have been welded shut. The tank was placed here on December 7th, 1992, "A day that will go down in infamy."
