The cache is located in one of the quieter areas of Acadia National Park, SCHOODIC PENINSULA, (25 miles downeast from Ellsworth) offering outstanding scenic views of Cadillac Mountain and the eastern shoreline of Mount Desert Island. If you venture down toward the shore from the cache you will see that the granite rocks here are laced by black diabase dikes. These interesting rock formations were caused by magma that welled up into cracks. Take time to explore the shoreline tidepools and inland wildlife via one of the nearby trails (see trail map below).
BE CAREFUL while climbing on these rocks; they can be slippery when wet !!
