This cache is located very near the site of Mono Mills the southern terminus for the Bodie and Benton Railway. Of course the other end was at Bodie. A drive by cache near the historical marker.
Container is small, with log and pencil. Left a pathtag. This area is part of the history of Bodie and it is why I placed a cache here. This is the remains of the old sawmill where the Standard Consolidated Mine and Mill got most of it firewood and lumber. The railway never hauled people only wood. I hope you enjoy your visit here. The road across the highway will take to Highway 395 over dirt roads and some beautiful scenery you just need to find the right road. There is a very new exhibit now that tells all about railroad, sawmill and the nearby fire.
