Geocache Description:

This is BB's 3rd cache.

Caroline Penambol cache is located next to a significant geological feature of the South East. Many moons ago, this feature was used by the local Bunganditj aboriginal people as a shelter during winter. The steep edges and large overhangs were ideal for this. When the Europeans arrived, the feature was used as a water source by the local farmers. The land surrounding the feature was once known as 'Pond Flat' and was occasionally used as a military training camp during the second world war. Today the area is a haven for wildlife who use the feature as a source for water and shelter. It is also a small tourist attraction which is rarely visited, but well worth the time.

Adjacent to this is a small conervation park, which was once known as Herpts's Scrub. It has many species of flora and fauna including the Common Wombat, whose scratchings and burrows can be seen all over the place. Plant species here include Stringybark, Bush Pea, Hop Wattle and Tiger Orchids. Eastern Grey Kanagroo, Echidna, Ring Tailed Possums and Bush Rats are also local inhabitants of this park. The 4.5 km Wombat Walk is well worth doing around twilight as this is when the wombats are becoming active.

The cache is a small 730 ml clip top container well hidden. Original goodies include a harmonica, zogg swimming goggles, rubber ball, Rugrats Mctoy, red nose and a crusty old Readers Digest keyring.

Pease hide the cache exactly as you find it.
