Geocache Description:

A spot near an old quartz quarry. Amazing views!

This cache is located in an area of old quartz quarries. They used to mine the quartz and grind it up to make glass. This quarry is located right on the edge of an old burn area. Great views of Raliegh Peak and Lone Scraggy Peak, as well as many of the granite domes in the area. You shouldn't need to bushwack at all to get here. The walking distance to the cache following the trail is 1.4 miles. The altitude gain is 439 feet. Park at the Colorado Trailhead at the South Platte River. Follow the Colorado Trail over the bridge and up the hill to the left after you first pass under the bridge. The cache is located close to the Colorado Trail. Hope you enjoy the hike.
