This cache is located on an overlook above the La Jolla Canyon waterfall. A moderately strenuous hike of about 3 mrt is required.
The trailhead for this cache is at the La Jolla Canyon day use parking lot (fee required), just off of the Pacific Coast Highway. About 0.6 miles up the trail from the parking area is a waterfall, which is a very popular family outing location in the spting/early summer, when the water is flowing (it is dry now). The cache is on the hill just above the falls. DO NOT try to bushwhack directly to the cache. There is good trail all the way to the cache. Departing falls area, the trail is rugged and very steep for about 0.3 miles, requiring some rock scrambling. Not suitable for bikes, strollers or small children. The cache is located near an overlook on the left side of the trail about 1.5 miles from the trailhead. The container is a plastic, 3" x 4" x 6" cammo'ed food container. The cache contains various goodies I have picked up during the last months cashing - something for everyone.
6-24-2013. The Springs Fire consumed just about everything on this beautiful overlook, including the cache. The brush is all gone, so I hid the replacement cache in a natural SPOR.
