Cache is located in on a hill in my field of native grass. Park at 38 21.291N, 098 25.496W. Depending on the time of year, the grass will be from knee deep to over six feet tall. Cache is .44 mile from the driveway. I recommend wearing boots and carrying water, especially if you have children along. The cache contains only Rich Mullins and religious items. Please take something even if you don’t leave anything. Call me at 620 257-8154 and I'll give you a lift in.
This cache has been set up as a memorial to Rich Mullins, born October 21, 1955, died September 19, 1997. Rich has rightly been called the greatest contemporary Christian composer and musician of our time. He was on his way back to his beloved Wichita, Kansas when he was killed in an auto accident. Rich constantly sought God, and he knew, as the Native People knew, that God walked the Kansas prairies, and that those prairies called out His name. One of Rich’s songs that I especially enjoy is “Calling Out Your Name”. Rich Mullins rose to fame and fortune in the music industry and then gave it all away to live in obscurity among Native Americans on a reservation in New Mexico, teaching children the joy of music and the hope of the gospel. During his life, Mullins challenged the sensibilities of what it means to follow Jesus in today's world, and now in his death, he challenges all to build upon his legacy of joy, compassion, brokenness, unblinking honesty, and wonder in an Awesome God. This cache is in a SASO-approved ammo can, which is inside a five gallon plastic bucket that has been buried. The top of the bucket is above the ground, and has been covered with an 18 inch disk blade. Digging is not necessary! Original cache contents: Log book, welcome sheet, pens & pencils. First to find reward is The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning. Other cache contents are five rosaries, “Story of Jesus” Golden Book, Prayer of Jabez, an assortment of religious books, prayer books, bookmarks, religious medals, and religious lapel pins. Pocket "Ready References", VeggieTales stickers, VeggieTales “Bob and Larry’s Campfire Songs”, and 102 Bible Songs (3 volume set). Rich Mullins CDs and DVDs as follows: Rich Mullins; Pictures In The Sky; Winds of Heaven. . . Stuff of Earth; Never Picture Perfect; The World As Best As I Remember It, Volume 1; The World As Best As I Remember It, Volume 2; A Liturgy, A Legacy & A Ragamuffin Band; Songs; Songs 2; Brothers Keeper; Canticle Of The Plains; The Jesus Record; Awesome God – Tribute to Rich Mullins; Here In America (CD only); Rich Mullin’s Wichita, KS Memorial Service (3 CD set); An Arrow Pointing To Heaven (CD from Book); Zion – Behold The Man; Rich Mullins – 1984 Demo; Live in Lufkin, TX DVD; Homeless Man DVD; and Canticle Of The Plains (2 DVD set of the production on Nov. 30, 1996 (I believe in Wichita, KS) and the production at the Cornerstone Festival on July 4, 1997. If you plan to do this cache and the “Santa Fe Trail – Ralph’s Ruts” caches the same day, do this one first so you can rest in the shade at Ralph’s Ruts. If you can catch Bo_Leggs at home, he'll probably give you a lift to near the cache. My home coordinates are: 38 21.715N, 98 25.255W. Happy Caching.
