Geocache Description:

Like any close-knit family, geocachers are a fusion of diverse characters -- 47Dad47, TeacherMom, Uncle Al, Granny, Species5618, and the rest of the kin...

Join the River City geocaching clan at the Twin Towers off Twin Cities Road on Saturday, October 9th, from 2-6 PM for an energetic and illuminating experience. You'll positively glow afterwards.

As a special feature, there will be a "Design and Create a Geocaching Container" contest. Maximum of two entries. No eBay or commercial containers, please. Prizes will be given for the top vote getters in the following categories:

  • Evilest
  • Funniest
  • Best Themed (container and contents)
  • Best Use of a 35mm Film Canister
  • Best in Show

Additional categories may be added depending on the number of entries, so mention in your RSVP if you are planning to enter the contest. The entry deadline for cache containers is 2:30 PM the day of the picnic. Prizes will be awarded after dinner and the winning containers may be included in the raffle at the creator's discretion. Of course, when the cache is actually placed, the maker will be have an advantage and the motivation for the FTF!

Supper will begin about 4:30 PM. In a true Potluck fashion, bring a salad, main dish, dessert, or whatever you wish to share. Also bring your own beverages.

Admission is $5 per car. Please post to this cache page if you are interested in carpooling. May we suggest meeting at the Raley's on Twin Cities Road just off Highway 99.

This event will be held Rain or Shine. There are covered tables available for the food. Bring folding chairs if you have them, because the tables are widely spaced. Dogs are allowed, but they must be kept on a leash (maximum length: six feet) at all times. For more information about the park go to Rancho Seco Park's web page.
