With all due respect to traditional 12-step programs, I am in the process of developing a 13 step program designed to get you addicted to caching.
Step 4 has finally arrived. Located in the vicinity of the Fairview Steps, you will be near the midway point of the flight of steps that originates on Lower McMicken Ave. and seems to terminate on the driveway through Fairview Park. But further investigation will show you that the stairway continues higher...BUT. I don't recommend following it too far. The upper portion is very overgrown...very "trashy", and in fact has collapsed presumably 1/3 of the way up. I could not go any further up from the collapsed landing, and frankly...I wasn't too impressed with what I was looking at.
So...I went slightly away from this mid-point of the ascent, and found a relatively secluded spot, not too overgrown, not too, too littered. (Can you say CITO?)Container is almost a gallon in size, has a fairly noticable lid, and really needs to be rehidden well once it is discovered. I will tell you this...one of the items I placed on top of the cache happened to have one of the largest slugs I have ever seen in my life, on it.(As in...bigger than my thumb.) Hopefully he/she/it has decided to relocate by the time you go looking for this cache.
Contents include log book, pen, pencil, sunglasses, magazine, several 4 leaf clovers, various items that small children might like.
Enjoy, and look for Step 5 to be out soon. It will not be far from this location, it will be much smaller, but I promise, the location is quite unique for our city.
Be sure to enjoy the overlooks from the park. There is a playground further down the road, and before you approach the area of the cache, there is a beautiful stone wall with arches.
