Geocache Description:

Wecome to Vista de Valsetz! What? You've never heard of the town of Valsetz? Valsetz was a logging town located near Falls City, Oregon. It's not there anymore - but you can still enjoy somewhat of a view...

Valsetz was a town created by a large lumber company to house many of its employees. The town came into existence in 1924. The town included churches, a post office, stores, and a K-12 school. Due to cutbacks, the company closed the town in 1984, and relocated all of its residents. During its heyday, the town boasted a few hundred residents. The town was soon burned down, and nearby Valsetz Lake, a manmade lake, was completely drained.

One building, a large warehouse type structure, still remains, and this micro/virtual cache will give you a view of the warehouse and old Valsetz. When you arrive at the cache location look north to see the warehouse (about .70 mile away) and you will also be looking at where Valsetz use to stand.

The terrain is rated 2 because it’s a bit of a drive from anywhere. Just get to Falls City and follow Bridge Street south, you will be heading into logging country. Enjoy the great views for several miles along the way. The road might be closed during fire season, so be prepared. There is a small area to park on the side of the road and you only need to walk a short distance and down a small slope to get the cache. I have also uploaded a couple of pictures for your reference.

You're looking for a NWSeekers 35mm film canister (see picture).
