Kansas Krawl 2004 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Michael: Received at Groundspeak today.

Dear Michael: Yes, the Corps of Engineers is requesting that these additional caches be archived. We are prepared to work with each cacher to resolve the ammo can container problem, so if you can notify the owners to contact me, I would be pleased to work with them to legitimize their caches. A simple one page form needs to be completed here at the project office, address Tuttle Creek Project Office, 5020 Tuttle Creek Blvd., Manhattan KS 66502, phone (785)539-8511. Ask them to call me first to set up an appointment. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Sincerely,

Paul Weidhaas

Geocache Description:

Located in the Tuttle Creek Off Road Vehicle Park.

You are looking for an OD Green Ammocan. You will find that it has several items for trade, a couple of ink pens, GEO-Sheet and a log book. When placed, we left the Cacher's Boot TB here. The Park is host every year to the Kansas Krawl, an event where the local club hosts anybody who wants to come tear up their equipment. In two days we were saved four times by the winches on our truck, three times on the nose and once off the tail. It can be really rough out here! You can drive almost straight west from the parking lot to this cache. There are some rock ledges though and some narrow spots through the trees. The creek bottom is rocky here, so no mud fears. We like this spot because the view is fantastic. The rock ledges are off to the south, today they had the tug of war contests down there and a lot of front axles were broken. A transfer case mount was broken and the gearbox was banging around on the crossmember and floor, not cool. A member of our crew broke a front axle on his Jeep Cherokee here yesterday and had to wheel out in two wheel drive. The more dangerous and tougher stuff is south of here, but this climb is pretty long and steep. Remember to get out and look before you drive off that rock! This is our third cache placed in the park, we will place one deep south in 2005 if somebody else has not done it yet.
