Here is the fourth installment of the Purdue Tour series. I thought this cache was very appropriate considering the on going theme of the virtual caches. This cache location commemorates the life of one of Purdue's most famous personalities. At thirty-nine years old, Amelia Earhart embarked on an historic and fateful flight attempting to become the first woman to circumnavigate the globe in an air plane. On July 2, 1937 Earhart made her last in flight transmission from the south Pacific and was never heard from again. With less than 7,000 of the 29,000 miles to go, the plane went down for unknown reasons and its final resting place has never been found. Some consider it to be one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of the twentieth century; what really happened to Amelia Earhart? To get credit for this cache find the plaque that is inside the airport terminal. The airport used to be open at all hours, but due to airlines cutting flights it is generally open during regular business hours. The plaque can be seen from the main doors though. The coordinates given are for the airport parking lot. Send me an email with two things: 1) what did Ameila do at Purdue and 2) who donated the plaque and when. Please do NOT put the answer in your log even if encrypted.
