Manumuskin River Preserve. Open dawn to dusk. No hunting, bicycles, or motorized vehicles allowed in park. Parking near the "Show Me The Way" cache at N39 19.900 W074 58.421
This cache is along the banks of one of the Menantico sand mining pits. Following the marked nature trail over from Fries Mill, The trail suddenly opened up to the best scenic views I have ever seen. The clear blue water and high sandy hills were beautiful, and the wind from Hurricane Ivan was causing the water to lap the edges of the shore. This was quite a departure from looking at pine trees while hiking the last 4 miles of pinelands. Please do not go into the water! Sand pits are very dangerous and deceivingly deep.Enjoy the view and the hike back to your car.
